Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L

Re: EF 70-200 2.8L (old boy)

Absolutely love this lens- and unlike killswitch, mine is a 0 AFMA on both ends (lowly 7d doesn't have w/t AFMA, so that works out well!)

First is from NCAA skiing championships this weekend, second is the first shot I took when I got my 7d and this lens, back in early December. Anyone care to tell me how my girlfriend felt about being a model? ;-)

edit: yes, I noticed my watermark on the one from 2013 says 2012.

This was the first "proper" lens I bought, and still the one I love to use the most. Hard to justify the IS version, for a hobby, when my technique is generally the limiting factor!

Great shot! I agree, as a hobbyist myself I hope I can pick this lens up some day. :) I would love the IS mkII but that is only a dream. :'( :p

This thread is surprisingly short, I guess everyone uses the IS2 instead. When I needed to replace my telephoto zoom the IS2 had just come out, but I could not afford it and this one was available new for a thousand dollars less. I love it and with the great high ISO capabilities of my 5D3 I can get a fast enough shutter speed to hand hold when I am not using a tripod (though I do use a tripod most of the time).

Here are a few handheld (had to shoot over a fence except for the car wheel) from Dillinger Days, an annual event in downtown Tucson.

In Yosemite last week waiting for the elusive Firefall (which did not happen either of the two nights we were there). While waiting I did a three shot vertical panorama of the sidelight on El Capitan. Except for the stitching and downsizing, this is JPEG out of camera. (I may do some additional processing later).
