Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM

How did you manage to focus properly in the second? Did you prefocus to a fixed distance?

I love my 85mm 1.2 but always thought the focus was too slow for sports. I took it to a high school basketball game last night and was very happy with the performance. I just love this lens.

Reason I'm asking, I'm going to go to a basketball game in about two weeks and wondering what to take along with my 5D3: 70-200 2.8 IS II or 85 1.2 II or borrowing a 135 2.0.

[edit:] I'll be up in the stands, unfortunately I have no information as of now about the distance to the field and the lighting conditions, but maybe the 85 lacks a bit of reach? Would the 100 L Macro also be a possible alternative?

wow som really nice work here...from the others.. people really show their love for the effects..

I also love this lens..
I like to go for an early walk as the sun ....gets ready... to rise....

one early morn experiment shown here ...

I bring the 14L II so when sun is finally UP...
I am doing a new, different thing....on the walk

fringing can be mostly corrected in Lightroom on these two lenses

for more people-oriented shooting... the lens captures and isolates ...in a fun way

sometimes I think of selling this beast.. but then I take it for a walk
....and it does some more tricks ..so I keep it

first ....... my grand child gets first guitar lesson from the Dad

this last guitar neck and cig lighter ...politeness for a passing wheelchair lady
... is the late Richard Collins .. a street / and blues player who had small success....
he stood on the corner for years...nice guy deserved to be named
I stuck a 135 f2 (also a nice lens) shot to see what he looks like ... this was a collection I did for his CD art

I NEVER passed him by .....with my camera without the 85L ...just for him
goodbye Richard
