This is amazing.

I am a mere amateur. I had ordered the 1dX at a french large techno supplier (fnac.com) end of June, and it delivered first week of July, so that I could spend my whole summer vacation with it (and I am delighted).
And now I discover that mi August, there is still shortage everywhere ?

I wonder how Canon's logistics work, and I feel I have been lucky with mine.

I have also problems with my 3 weeks old 1Dx.
First, it was delivered with LOTS (!) of dust on the sensor. I have to remove at least 30 small and big spots in Lightroom on each picture!

Then the eye cup is ripped in the right corner, something that didn't even happen to my 4 years old 5D or 2 years old 7D! I thing the material is weak. Though it also fits the 7D, the material looks some kind of different!

Another thing is the glue / tape that holds the leather on the grip - it's not really strong enough on some spots. On that point where you place your thumb, it's coming off a bit!

I am going to bring it to the CPS next week.

The mulit-controller near the LCD hasn't worked properly since the camera came out of box four days ago. The multi-controller moves but doesn't register input in all directions. Canon Customer Support told me to pack up the camera and ship it to some god-knows-where repair center while they figure how what to do about it and how much to charge me. I'm stunned that they don't have quality control checks prior to sending out such an expensive - and flag ship - product.

Just a heads up, I was calling around stores in state today (I live in Texas), and Fort Worth Camera has a few Canon 1DX in stock. Their website is www.fortworthcamera.com I've had some friends that have ordered from them, or bought in person with good results.

How does Amazon get away with claiming the "List price" for the 1DX is $10,200 ?! According to Canon USA, the price is $6,799, which means Amazon is not only misleading you, it's ripping you off. B&H sell the 1DX for ... $6,799.

The multi-controller works a bit better with time....- the vertical controller is very good. but the horizontal controller has some issues.
