I would love to see a firmware update for the C100 mkII that allows it to record UHD. I doubt that will happen. But it would be great if it did.

That said, I'm looking forward to the 5D mkIV, really hoping it has:

  • UHD recording at a decent bitrate with minimum rolling shutter and no sensor crop
  • DPAF
  • Nano USM full frame lens(es) that can use their new power zoom box (maybe a new 24-105 f4L)

Other things I would love it to feature but won't happen:

  • Flip out screen (they really need a full frame camera with a screen like this - so handy for video)
  • C-Log
  • Clean HDMI out at UHD resolution
  • 10bit 4:2:2 internal recording (or at least external output at UHD resolution)
  • OVF/EVF hybrid

What's interesting in this description is that we're looking at imaging Integration. "A range of innovations such as AF, sensor technology and resolution" are terms also applicable to DSLR photography. One can even suggest there's common R&D between cinema and photography. In cinema EOS workflow is of common RAW and audio. What I would expect however is some sort of integration with the VR (Virtual Reality) platform for the advancement of AF towards eye-tracking (showcased at SIGGRAPH Conference right now at Anaheim).

Obviously increasing the number of AF points in every new DSLR model is not innovation any longer, nor hand picking the AF point on external touch-screen is. It's time to move to precise eye focus and tracking. I'd expect that to be part of a showcase of the "Future". Unless regretfully that's all part of the Distant future and we're stuck with incremental improvements for the next decade or so.

Does that mean they are going to showcase Sony products? ;)

Yeah, they're going to shot off all the innovative Sony broadcast lenses. You know...the ones seen on the HDTV broadcast cameras in Sony's brochures. Oh, wait – those are Canon lenses with the logos photoshopped out. :p

But don't worry, I'm sure Sony will be there to highlight the professional service and support they deliver promise they're working hard to start to provide.

No one ever disputes Canon's lens and service superiority- we own all that glass, which is why us video folks are so frustrated at their DSLR and broadcast bodies ;)
