Wondering, if you get a chance, your thoughts on DPP vs. LR. For now I have LR 6.14 and two cameras that it supports, but that'll likely change at some point; hopefully not from GAS (so might not be for awhile).
So when the inevitable happens does one go with DPP (already downloaded the latest version and am almost done with the Canon DPP tutorials) or go with the subscription LR?
Thanks.

I purchase 1 year subscriptions for LR when they go on sale around Christmas and on Prime day. Sometimes the prices are very good, but you need to be watching or signup for notifications of a deal.

Considering the price of my gear. the cost of lightroom doesn't even register.

Between LR 6.14 being obsolete,poor M lense selection, and overpriced RF lenses;
I have now stopped buying new camera gear.

My wallet is much happier.

I won't do LR subscription on principal.

When I am Forced to upgrade; I will go capture one.

I use DPP to generate TIFFs that I import into lightroom. That way I get proper colours as well as the organizing features of lightroom. And no month or year long wait to get cameras and lenses supported.
