Re: Deal: DJI Phantom 3 4K Drone $599 (Reg $999)

The problem I have with these drones is that they are a bit like buy a Sony camera: you buy one and practically five minutes later a new model comes out.

I get that technology is moving quickly, but depreciation is sure going to take its toll on these drones faster than on most tech these days.

Re: Deal: DJI Phantom 3 4K Drone $599 (Reg $999)

I saw this sale a few days ago and bought a refurb Phantom 3 Standard from the same seller for $349. It looks like the Standard has since sold out. I see how the $599 Professional model is a good deal, but I didn't want to spend that much on something I may not use often. The Standard seems capable enough and hopefully it will be a good drone for learning the basics.

One cost that surprised me was a spare battery. The OEM battery usually costs $149, though Amazon had it on sale for $99. I know the Phantom's LiPo battery is more exotic than our Canon DSLR batteries, I just wasn't ready for them to cost so much more. That said, I'm impressed by how DJI has so many different spare parts available for sale.
