This has been an incredible holiday season for Canon buyers in the U.S. It seems like a new fantastic deal was announced every day.

Some examples: The 6DII and 5DIV bundles from both B&H and Adorama; Canon's free battery grip promotion; Refurbished 6DII with 24-105 STM for $1,300, Refurbished two-lens 80D kit for $649; Refurbished 600 EX-RT II for $300; M6 with 18-150 for $500, and a lot of great street prices from Canon Price Watch.

I know my wallet is a lot lighter as a result. How about your's? Did you take advantage of these savings?

What was your favorite buy?

How about our friends around the world, have you seen similar deals?

I didn't take advantage of any deals, but this year I added the M6 + M18-150 kit and the 85/1.4L IS to my kit. Quite pleased with both purchases.

How is the 18-150? I have the EF-M 18-55 but never liked using it (prefer using the EF-M 22), and I heard that the 18-150 is an even more compromised lens than the 18-55...

The M18-150 is a decent lens, overall similar in IQ to the M18-55 and M55-200 (a step below the M11-22 and the M primes). It's convenient, better than carrying the 18-55 and 55-200, and switching between them. I figure that I'm already making a compromise with an APS-C sensor, so a small compromise on the lens is in line with that. The 11-22 + 18-150 makes a very versatile and small travel kit.

5D Mark IV scheduled to arrive next week... Canon's marketing driven engineering combined with the deals got me to go with the 5.

Hah! I went into the fall thinking I'd pick up a used 6D as a second full frame body (Tired of switching lenses when covering events). Then talked myself into a 6DII and then, when the deals hit, I found myself ordering a 5DIV. So weak...but so happy with the decision. Despite the higher MP count, I see no difference between the 5D and 1D at high ISO.

Last night I found myself ordering a refurbished 600 EX-RT II -- cringed a bit, but at $300, it was too good to pass up. You can never have too many flashes.

I got two 1DX MkII's with CFast cards and readers for an insanely good price via CPW. Took full advantage of Canadian currency fluctuations and got a three year warranty thrown in on top of the Canon 12 month one too.

I've seen many 1DX MkII's go for more secondhand with no warranty than I paid for mine new so I couldn't be happier.

Hello,

I've got a Canon EOS 6DMarkII through the advent calendar deals of the german dealer AC Foto (1675€ instead of ~1850€)

Originally I planned to also purchase the Canon 100-400 IS L USM II lens, but after seeing some reviews from the new Tamron 100-400 I purchased the Tamron (also some kind of a deal even that there was no rabate on the new Tamron).

regards
Frank
