Need help re-sequencing images shot from two cameras

Hi,

I just received pictures shot at my daughter's wedding. There were two still photographers. Now what I have is two sets of photos in a single folder both have pictures from the start to the end of the event. The file numbers start and end such that when you sequence them by name, they are two distinct sets. So, when one looks at the slide show, one gets an odd sense of deja vu when you come to the second set. Is there a way I could rename the images based on the time in the EXIF?

I think this can be done with Picasa.

sort your pictures after their shooting time, then select them all and rename them with the batch rename tool.

The tool 'exiftool' can extract the shooting time for you (along with a vast array of other settings/information that you didn't know was recorded), if you need to script it.

Glad you found it useful.... When canoeing, I have a waterproof P/S camera and a DSLR on the go at the same time.... it helps to keep things in order, plus to get unique file names.....
