That is going to be a tough sell.

Yeah, I've seen the 7D MK 2 Body going for south of a $1,000 in some places around NY. The 7Ds don't hold their value well at all compared to the 1 & 5 series. But you can find some bargain buys on them a year or so in to the line.

Has anyone had any experience with Abe's of Maine? Are they a legit company? They have the 5D MK IV w/ 24 - 105 f/4 IS L II lens for about $600 off.

Thoughts?

They were alright before bankruptcy, now it's a bait & switch outfit that took over the name. They are not Canon authorized.

True that, I have seen people dropping 7D mk2 on used market for 60-65K Inr in India(less than $1000). For a wildlife/action camera the buffer on that camera is too shallow compared to Nikon D500. Mos of the people who dumped these bodies were using 400 5.6/300 4+ 1.4x tc (saw listings for these lens as well around 45000Inr(~700$)). Canon made some terrible design choices with that camera when it was released and loosing value on used market sure shows people arent ready to stick with 7D mk 2.

Shallow buffer of just 35 RAW files on CF and use of CF and old UHS-I SD slots(which seems to max out at 70MBps a lot slower than 80D's SD slot) while with D500 you can shoot upto 200 Raw files(on XQD card) before hitting artificial limit set by Nikon. Last month a friend of mine picked up 7D mk2 and 400mm f5.6 lens both used for roughly the same as what Canon is charging for 7D mk 2 with 18-135mm STM kit.

Sometimes you get lucky. A few months ago I sold my 7DII bought new paired with a 17-55 f2.8 bought used for $2200 Canadian. Ignoring the sales tax, my cost of ownership for 2 years was $150.

Not being able to shoot a burst of 200 RAW files is hardly a design flaw for most users.

Sure but expecting the buffer to last 6-8 secs is a reasonable expectation from a camera targeted towards sports/wildlife crowd. In dec when i was on grasslands tracking Indian wolves, I did notice 7D mk II(rental body and lens) would slow down after 3secs of shooting to sandisk extreme pro sd cards. And after that when I started timing raptors(harriers, osprey and kestrels) hunting, the most of the action lasted good 7-8secs.
Also unlike Nikon D500, 7D mk II doesn't even have af linked spot metering which another disadvantage for wildlife shooters.

Nice! The 17-55 will still fetch $600+ Canadian, used by itself. Amazing value detention from its original price.

There are ways. You know there is another slot for CF cards I assume. The fastest write speed for CF cards is 150MB/sec and even if not the maximum is achieved the 7DII writesfaster on CF card only (speaking from personal experience). Also not always 10fps are necessary. You can use a very decent say 7fps and CF card combination and you could achieve the seconds you wish.
