Maybe we will see this lens announced in the Fall. I believe Canon will at least update the C100 then if they continue on their 2 year cycle. The C100 came in October 2012 and the C100 Mark II came in October 2014 - So hopefully we will see a Mark III with 4K come in the Fall - and maybe this new lens and the rumored C500 Mark II with 8K as well. One can only hope.......!

Based on the lack of major announcements from Canon at NAB (and continuing the 1080HD push), I'm not sure they are on the "tradeshow" timeline for cinema/video announcements. Maybe this could be released sooner than anyone thinks. When talking about the newest cheaper cinema zoom (18-80 T4.4), the lead Canon cinema guy said on camera that this would not be their only cheaper cinema lens offering. If the 18-80 is doing well with pre-orders, maybe they're going to accelerate with additional lenses that fit in the semi-affordable gap?
