Printing photos in Los Angeles area

HI so i will be having my photos shown in my first gallery. I need help looking for a good place in Los Angeles area for printing while being reasonable priced. and any Advise on different papers i should use like canvas, semi gloss, and glossy.

Why not just have them printed by an online lab? I have used mpix.com for most of my prints. They use high quality paper (the type of paper you should use should be based on your own preference and image subject). They will also send you a "cheap calibration kit" that helps you calibrate your monitor to their prints if you don't calibrate your monitor through other means. Plus, the prices are good and they have a large selection of sizes and will mount them for you if you would like with lots of different options and will turn around the images quickly. I used other smaller pro labs but haven't been impressed by the quality and turnaround time.

I guess you guys must be local photographers in LA. Any reputable camera shops in LA in which customers are free to touch / test with cameras and lenses? I am looking for something like B&H in NYC. I will be on biz trip to LA for months so I want to keep my hobby in LA too

Mr. Ranger, this might be a drive for you from the LA area but I print all my photos at PRO PHOTO in Irvine (Orange County). They are reasonably priced and do great work! Almost all the photographers I know use them exclusively. I would suggest a possibly Matte finish, it will look great.

Yup, Samy's is big. The one on Fairfax (near the Farmers Market) is the big store, and there are a few others scattered around the area. There's also Calumet, but I don't think any of their stores are all that big, about the size of the non-flagship Samy's stores.

thanks for the links this place looks great. it is bit of a drive but well worth it.
