Rumored 5D MP count

It does make sense, if you understand how a color filter array works in order to create a color image. Not all pixels are used.

A (color) Pixel is actually an array of (typically three) sprites. The sprites are filtered for color. Either way; I was just making a joke about 2.4 million pixels going rouge.

But to correct you; The missing pixels have nothing to do with color arrays or understanding them. It has to do with the math used to represent the count.

e.g. 1024x1024 = 1m as opposed to 1,048,576

1m * 50.6 = 50.6m
1024 * 50.6 = 53m

For what it's worth.

Actually, that's 51.8k :p

What you meant to say was:

50.6MPixel * 1024^2Pixel/MPixel =53,057,946 Pixels, which they'll divide by an even million for marketing statistics. Same game hard drive and memory manufacturers play.

Bahha, my bad =)

1024^2 * 50.6 is what I meant to write. :-*

■50.6mp full frame CMOS
■53mp total resolution

I wonder if it will require a 128GB CF card that is 140GB.
In fact, a 128 giga memory card will only fit about 115 giga, as it uses a part for the index.

Similarly, a 53 megapixel sensor will only use 50.6 megapixel to effectively capture the image.
