SMC Takumar Lenses

I'm shocked there isn't a place for these already! I hope to build up a fair collection of these eventually, but today I got my first, an SMC Takumar 35mm f/3.5 lens with an M42 mount. I took immediately went to play in the yard and picked up these images. I used a 12mm macro extension tube to bring my focus distance to about 6".

My 135mm SMC Takumar f/2.5 arrived yesterday. I took this one out for a spin as well. These were all shot with a 12mm extension tube. I'm quite pleased with the lens. It's not as fancy as the Canon 135mm f/2 lens, but this one is at least 35 yrs old and looks almost brand new. I suspect it would last another 35 yrs while the Canon lens would have rotted away by then :)

Here's a selfie taken with a Super Tak 50mm f/1.4 and a 60D (used the 60D's articulating screen to watch focus.) The detail rendered in the skin is pretty amazing!

I could share images from these lenses all day - they are still amazingly competent.

Hallo yorgasor,

the old Takumars are great. I stared thread for the SMC Pentax 50mm 1.4 (http://www.canonrumors.com/forum/index.php?topic=21454.0). Its similar to the old m42 Takumar 50 1.4. I really like it.

I also have the Version II 135 2.5 Takumar as well and am really pleased with it.

Additionally I have a MC Takumar 85 1.9. It can produce some good pictures as well.

I would like to to post some pictures from them, but most of the pictures I take are of my kids and I don't want to post them in the internet. But .... If there is interest in these old lenses, then I'll try to get motivated to get out and shoot some stuff I can post.

Have a nice day.

Hello,

well I managed to go out and take some shots for this thread. I used the 135mm f2.5, that I mentioned above.
All were shot in RAW and run through LRs default settings.

After each picture comes a 100% crop of where I focused.

The first picture is ISO 400 f2.5 1/160 Sec on a 6D
The second is ISO 500 f2.8 1/200 Sec on a 6D
The third is ISO 640 f3.2 1/200 Sec on a 6D
The fourth is ISO 800 f4.0 1/200 Sec on a 6D
