The forum will be moving to a new domain in the near future (canonrumorsforum.com). I have turned off "read-only", but I will only leave the two forum nodes you see active for the time being.

I don't know at this time how quickly the change will happen, but that will move at a good pace I am sure.

4K DSLR

I was looking at the spec of the new S100 and was looking at the 9.6 fps burst rate and i believe this is the fastest for a P&S camera. Now if we speculate that the Figic 5 is not over utilized in this P&S we could assume that one Digic 5 processor could probably handle a burst rate of maybe 12 frames a second! at 12MP now if a DSLR were to have 2 x Digic processor we could easily hit 24P at 12MP which is greater then 4K. now whic ever way the sensor is cropped to get 4K.

If canon unveiled its next DSLR camera (5DMKiii, 7D MKii) with 4K video they will bring 4K video to the masses and will literally change the game again (5D the first time)!!!

This would kick off big time in Hollywood as filmmakers will have access to cheap 4K cameras that are small and can be used in so many scenes!

And that is what im guessing will be the Hollywood announcement is that 4K cameras that are cheap and with FF sensor means DOF!!!!!!

Reading out at 4K is one thing, coding it (compression) and writing it on a memory card is a whole another story. Without compression, theres no memory card that can handle the bit rate, and with compression, the processor cant handle the readout.

Maybe the Sep 22 announcement is about a high end 4k cinema recorder, but I doubt it would be a DLSR. For DSLRs, I think the most probable version is a proper bit rate 2K, with 4:2:2.
