A few Canon EOS R5 Mark II specifications [CR2]

\"Advancements in heat dissipation technology have led to enhanced performance in video recording\"

Now this sounds VERY INTERESTING! The Nikon Z8 offers 8.6K 60p 12-bit RAW and oversampled full sensor readout 4K60p.

I\'d expect Canon to at least match this. Oversampled (4KHQ) 4K120p would be pretty exiting for really detailed slow-mo shots! I hope Canon delivers with the R5ii!

I hope this specs are accurate. If so, I might preorder.

I've frequently been critical of Canon's lackluster upgrades (along with their slowness in catching up to Sony sensor technology). However, these specs check just about all my boxes. The stacked sensor (I'm absolutely giddy over the "faster readout than the EOS R3" claim), improved AF and improved ergonomics (finally, some audible feedback when shooting in ES mode?). This camera could very well become my go everywhere body.

I really, really hope that it isn't limited to 30 minutes of video shooting--it's the only excuse I can give my company for trading in the R5 I currently assigned to me, to purchase an R5 II, that will guarantee authorization to purchase.
Since recent full frame cameras have had that limitation removed, I doubt it will be applied to the R5II.

I predicted it'll have the Eye-Control AF II, which will match what Apple offers in their Vision Pro headset, along with the smart controller from the 1Dx III / R3 about 2 months ago.

I believe the 30 FPS mechanical shutter is a bit of an exaggeration. It'll will have 30 FPS in electronic shutter only, the mechanical shutter won't get anywhere near 30 FPS.

The rest of the feature set predictions sound reasonable, easily guessed/predicted and within reach of a camera manufacturer of Canon's stature given the current state of available tech and the fact they had 4 years to upgrade the original R5. Just look at what state of the art cell phones can do nowadays and where AI is headed.

Haven't given a lot of thought to the flippy-screen until the past few weeks. I've been using the RF10-20mm at very low angles, too low for view-finder use. My RRS L-bracket calls for quite a few compromises when using the flippy-screen.

Without the bracket, the screen is great. I wonder if the new one will somehow incorporate a way to get the screen up above the hotshoe rather than just to the side.

That was my fear with the L bracket in an R5. I love the idea of a flippy screen but I need the L bracket more than I need the flippy.

With that said, I stuck with he 5Div, so I’m still laying belly down in the mud to shoot low and wide, like an animal! Worst of both worlds!

I’d be pretty excited if this got addressed!

I'm your opposite - the flippy screen is more important to me than the L-bracket. If it's addressed as we hope, won't it be wonderful?

One of my favorite things about the RRS L-bracket for the R3 is that it's the modular style, where the upright portion can be removed with a hex key that stores in the bracket (though TBH, I preferred the 1D X style where the hex key was in the base rather than the upright part). I usually leave the upright portion off unless I know I'll be shooting in portrait orientation from a tripod (e.g. panoramas).

All those specs sound like about what I would expect. And, also why I may skip a generation.

I am likely to preorder, wait for early reviews, and then cancel unless something that really adds to my photography comes about.

I have nitpicks with the R5, but that is really about it. Absolutely amazing camera.

It might do 30fps in EFCS mode, but like you, I'm sceptical about that. On my R5 I only turned on EFCS when using flash, pretty much everything else was done using ES. I expect to stay below 1000 shutter actuations on the R5II for the first few years of using it :)
