It looks like we will get another Cinema Camera ahead of IBC, which begins on September 13, 2024. We've known another Cinema Camera was coming through the certifications. The new Cinema EOS camera will have the same sensor as the Cinema EOS C400, but it will be a lower end model, possibly the replacement for

I think this is most likely the spiritual successor to the C70, though not sure what the nomenclature will be. And I imagine they’ll keep selling the OG C70 for awhile - it’s obviously been super popular and still looks great.

If it is a C70 style form-factor, I hope it will include an EVF ... or at least have some hot shoe style EVF solution like the EVF-DC1.

Of course, my dream would be an R5 C Mark II: keep the Cinema EOS menus for video mode, keep the stills functionality, add internal ND, add a more powerful battery solution. (Probably would need to grow to the size of an R1/C70 and cost the same as the C400, but I would be ok with that if it meant I could take one body for stills and video ... with no need for external fuss, such as NDs and power banks.)

R5ii with the cooling grip is the answer to the R5Cii. The FX3 has eaten into the R5C market.

FYI, the FX3 was released BEFORE the R5C but it has continued to be a very popular camera.
Sony touts the full frame FX6/FX3 as the corporate combo, A cam, B cam.

Canon C70 (crop) and R5C (ff) just doesn't gel as a marketing.

With the new C70ii (ff?) and R5C combo, or the release of the R6iii next year will be more enticing for lower budget combo, marketing wise. Or for higher budget combo C400 and C70ii.

This announcement is an interesting development and one I did not foresee. Will be interesting a see what they release. Maybe a C70 Mark2?

For my needs a hybrid camera (R5 Mk2 or R1) fulfills my video needs.
I am thinking about the R1 too. However the triple base ISO interests me more, if moves down to something smaller. I am missing deep DoF in low relatively light.

Agreed, I know some shooters who have the FX6/FX3 and FX9/FX3 combo. The system approach is key here-- the lineup needs to make sense for the market.
