The forum will be moving to a new domain in the near future (canonrumorsforum.com). I have turned off "read-only", but I will only leave the two forum nodes you see active for the time being.

I don't know at this time how quickly the change will happen, but that will move at a good pace I am sure.

Any thing Shot with a 5ds/r

Here´s one more noise example, from St. Sophia´s cave on Crete.

This is shot handheld with the 24-70 f2.8L II @24mm, 1/40s, f3.5, ISO3200. The only editing is Highlight: -100, Shadow: +100, Noise (luminance): 40. Everything else is LR default. Again, judge for yourselves.

I've got a message for you from my wife Eldar; stop posting these images from the 5Ds on line or you'll be in serious trouble ;)

He he. The trick is to have enough gadgets, so she´s losing track of what you have. Alternatively, make a balance with shiny metals and twinkling stones ;)

I have played with this camera for just over a week and I am quite impressed with its performance. I will (when time permits) do some more head to head comparisons with the other cameras I have, to see what the differences are on equal enlargements. Pixle peeping on a 5k screen is one thing, but side by side A3+ prints should be interesting. From what I have seen so far, the 5DSR is a lot better at higher ISOs than I expected.

One thing I had some concerns about, was moiré. I have about 1000 shots of different motives so far and I have not been able to detect a single incident. On the other hand, I have not been shooting anything that should provoke moiré either. Memory cards and disks are filling up fast though!

This is from port of Chania on the northwest coast of Crete. (PS! If you go there in the near future, bring cash!)

Nice shot, I tried comparing it with my shots taken with 5DIII, and I think the 5Ds(r) is handling noise better, maybe the higher number of pixels is helping preserve details, but also the amount of noise is less in shadowed areas, though I am not totally sure since I am comparing at 1:1 while this shot seem to be a reduce size from the original.

The cave image is about 60% of a full image.

then it is really better, now I only need one test to confirm my G.A.S, can you try shooting the stars with it, the Milky Way is almost in its full glory these days, and it seem there are many Dark areas in Crete ;D

I´d love to, but I came home to Norway this morning and the conditions for stars are rather poor for the next couple of months.

That's unfortunate, I hope you enjoyed the trip.

Here´s a Swallowtail (Papilio machaon) on final approach. It is just covering the sun, so the light was quite interesting and I´m fairly happy with the timing.

Shot with the 70-200 f2.8L IS II @200mm, 1/200s, f8.0, ISO500 (cropped quite a bit)

these are all at ISO 2500 - fairly dark ceremony venue -was a little worried but, with making sure I got the absolutely necessary stuff with my known systems, I did use the 5ds with a few lens combos. No flash, it handles quite well.
