• UPDATE

The forum will be moving to a new domain in the near future (canonrumorsforum.com). I have turned off "read-only", but I will only leave the two forum nodes you see active for the time being.

I don't know at this time how quickly the change will happen, but that will move at a good pace I am sure.

I'm trying to decide between these 2 and its really hard.

I love fast primes obviously both are built really well high quality
similar price, the L obviously has the advantage of AF over the zeiss and a little cheaper
no focus breathing on the zeiss is nice and hard stop infinity focus is also nice
i would use this lens on my 5Dmk2 mostly so MF isnt a problem really since i use a brightscreen on that body
my sigma 85mm is almost glued on to the 5Dmk3 now

any one have both? opinions?

The Canon is a great lens, but according to TDP, the Zeiss is slightly sharper from f/1.4 to about 2.8, where the Canon catches up to the Zeiss in sharpness. I got the 35L because I wanted AF and use it mostly taking pictures of family, especially kids that are almost always on the move.

If you are looking to make a decision soon and are willing to work with a MF lens, then the Ziess is the way to go. But of course, everything could change when/if Canon comes out with the 35L II.
