Canon 8-15mm F4L Fisheye shortage?

Ok I'm just curious here. I was watching a new 8-15 fisheye on eBay and it just went for $3996US. This lens retails for $1500 new, and I was a bit shocked to see the final price. Is there some sort of shortage or something? ???

Suckers are born every day. I own one of these and it's a rather cool lense. I don't use it all of the time but when I need it I'm glad I got it. The dof is great and will focuse down to a few inches. It is most useful when you want a wide shot and don't have the room to move back such as in an elevator, mine shaft, or on the face of a rock cliff. . The fisheye perspectives are awesome. Color and clarity are excellent with very high contrast. Obviously you do get some CA at the edges but it's not too bad and can be corrected for in photoshop. The lense also has the new fluorine coatings so a soft cloth is all you need to clean it.

If you are considering one, just get it. I have not been disappointed in it at all.

It might be that they were bidding for something else, like some sort of 'dirty laundering'!

Well you never know, some sellers have their buddies, or even create a dummy account just to jack up the price. For instance I looked at the bidding for that lens and it was a zero (0) bidder that started going crazy with the bidding.
