not sure how the jpeg upscaling helps if you only shoot raw. no quad pixel af or dgo sensor as rumored. probably will still pre-order it but a bit disappointed and don't see how this is "the one" we've all been waiting for.

It does have QPAF, it's just called cross-type DPAF.

A 24mp sensor can't do a 96mp RAW file. 96mp jpgs will be pretty great when the moment strikes.

the sensor will support AF contrast line detection in both horizontal and vertical directions. The people that Craig talked with said it was quad pixel.

but there are several different ways Canon could do this, but for now, we believe it's Quad. In any case, it will do the job - which is to improve AF in both portrait and landscape positions.

No confirmation about sync speed on the R1? Roughly one hour left, I guess I can wait.

We had a copy of the specifications but the format was horribly trashed i will look to see if i can find that for you now though.

edit:

Mechanical / 1st-curtain Electronic shutter:

1/8000th sec – 30 seconds, in 1/3 or 1/2 -step increments

Electronic shutter:

1/8000th sec – 30 seconds, in 1/3 or 1/2 -step increments (1/16,000th possible, if user-set in Tv or M

shooting modes)

X-sync Speed Mechanical Shutter: 1/200 sec.

Elec. 1st-curtain: 1/320 sec.

Well this all seems not very impressy, but rather a small hardware upgrade to the R3, and a bigger software upgrade.

To be fair, we have to wait for the official announcement and what it really is capable of. And what I am interested in, is a comparison to the R3.
