I received my new RF 50mm 1.8 yesterday. I find it better than the EF version. One thing interesting, the control ring does not click. It is just smooth. I assume it is because the control ring is switchable to also serve as the manual focus ring.

Hi astate
Out of curiosity, what do you like better about the RF version over the EF version?

It is smaller and lighter due to not having to use the EF-RF adapter. It has the control wheel. I feel it is slightly, but not significantly, sharper.

do you have the RF 35mm f/1.8 too? probably similar IQ? the 35mm is worth more cause of the IS im guessing
I do have the 35. There is a bit more to it. It has the IS but also has 11 elements in 9 groups vs the 6 elements in 5 groups of the 50. The 35 also has the macro capability. These things are what, I assume, make it cost more. I also have the 85 f2.

OK, got it. Just came in. 50 mm 1.8 RF.

Just a few shots around the house and it seems pretty good!

And I know that this should be elementary but after having the 24-70 RF on my camera for so long the weight difference Is incredible! It is so light it feels like there is no lens on the camera at all. I have the R5. I have the R5. So now I'm just waiting on the shipment of the 70-200 f4. B&H says last week of January.

Keep on going Canon!!
