Canon teases Canon EOS R8 and Canon EOS R50 announcement happening this week

It says 'Will be body only or kitted' for the R8 but not for the R50, but a body only price is mentioned for the R50. So will it be possible to get the R50 as body only? I would not want to shell out for a kit lens that I have absolutely no use for…

It might show up as a SKU, but I doubt you’ll be actually able to buy it.
I do hope for body only options for all Canon cameras, since like you, I don’t have much use for those kit lenses.

Unless there will be a dual lens kit with a 22 f/2 and 11-22 :)

Dang.
Also the alternative color better not be white, those cameras look like ass IMHO

Other than that I hope the R50 has two dials, otherwise I think I would have to go for the R10 instead.
I'd guess that it will be a choice between black or white. White cameras are very popular in Asia, and with female buyers, so Canon will surely cater for them. Red and/or blue options would probably also be popular, fluorescent tangerine less so...

The lenses haven't been reviewed yet.
I'd rather wait with my judgement, even though the maximum apertures aren't exactly nmind-boggling...
Its not just the max apertures but in case of 55-210 there is loss of 45mm at long end(compared to EF-S equivalent). And from leaked pics of 24-50 its not as compact(if it performs then it would be a reasonable compromise compared to other compact/collapsible zooms).

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love f/6.3
I too hate f/6,3.
I don't worry at all, since I'm neither interested in APS/C lenses, nor in APS/C cameras.
But: I could never judge a lens based on its sole aperture, it still could be good, depending on the planned use.
Even though I have strong doubts...
What I find more disturbing is the 24mm focal length for an APS/C kit lens.

Well then I guess it’s good that the 24-50 isn’t an APS/C kit lens but their new budget FF kit lens for which 24mm has been industry standard for the last 20-30 years. Does anyone really think a 24-50 would be a APS/C lens?!?
