Thanks for sharing. That plus the $400 rebate made me take another look at the RF 100 Macro.

I’d end up paying ~$600 (lens plus $200 tripod ring minus proceeds from selling my EF 100L Macro). Still not enough to sway me, I’ll stick with the EF I have.
Lol I did the exact same mental math. Keeping my EF 100 as well.

The €60 iShoot knockoff tripod ring on aliexpress/amazon is surprisingly well made and works as expected. The RF100 is also light enough to not actually require a tripod collar.
I received the ishoot collar earlier this week and it’s doing well so far.

If the IS/IBIS interaction doesn’t bother you, keep the EF, it’s an excellent lens.

For me, the keeper rate went down after changing from the RP to the R5, after some trial and error the IS seemed to make things slightly worse instead of slightly better. The RF100 fixes that specific issue, but the cheaper fix would’ve been getting a non-L 100mm :)

It’s less about the weight than the ability to easily change orientation.
