Wow.
Just got off the phone with crutchfield.
I ordered through them last night via phone with Dean. Dean pulled a 5dm3 body and put it in his system/cart while I was talking with him. I pulled the trigger on the item, paid for super fast shipping, and was told the 5dm3 body would arrive Thursday morning before 10:30. When I received email confirmation of my order, I cancelled at Amazon. I was a March 2nd 2:30am Central time Amazon orderer.
Today crutchfield tells me that there were actually no 5dm3s left when Dean placed my order.
"Sorry, I understand your frustration."
No, I don't think you do.

wow, that makes me nervous, they too told me over the phone i would have it tomorrow before 10:30am and i keep calling back and checking and it hasn't shipped out yet :(
this sounds sketchy, customer service can't tell me why it hasn't shipped yet.

I ordered with Amazon on the 2nd of March. Early.
Last Friday, Amazon told me they would have my camera to me Tuesday the 20th. I was told this over the phone.
The item did not ship on Monday. It did not arrive Tuesday. Amazon, even yesterday, had zero info or estimate as to when they would get my order to me. Other people on these forums have been able to walk into local stores and buy their cameras. Why would I wait for Amazon after being lied to? Why give them $3500?
I called crutchfield and spoke with Dean. He said that he had a 5D body in stock. He pulled it from inventory for my order and told me it would arrive Thursday. I said sweet, done deal.
Amazon = no clue. Crutchfield = Thursday.
Today I find out that Dean at Crutchfield really did not have the item he told me he did. He did not pull anything from inventory and the item sold out before my order processed.
So.
What exactly am I supposed to be patient about? Being lied to? Trying to pay people thousands of dollars for giving me nothing but incorrect information?
Seems that every vendor I have placed an order with lied to me regarding when the order I submitted would arrive.
If people actually did what they said they would do, it would be no problem. But I have zero patience for people who give false information. Whether they do not understand how to do their jobs, how their system works, or straight up provide me with false promises, I am not going to patiently wait to pay for incompetence.

im scared, mine is also supposed to be here tomorrow morning, in los angeles, and CS on the phone said it will or they will refund shipping costs, but they still can't answer why it hasn't shipped out yet. wouldn't you think it would of had to ship this morning to make it here by 10:30am tomorrow?

Sucks. But at this time I would not panic and cancel any order from the big boys. When Canon gets their stock moving they will definitely supply to the big boys first.

really??? nice, well that sounds promising. so you got an email? and di your online order stays reflect that? I'm just wondering if one is delayed or not. i just keep refreshing to see :)

I don't get why people are telling him to just be patient. I think he has the right to get angry.

I don't know Dean, and I've never ordered from crutchfield, but as a consumer I would think they they lied to me.

Heres why: crutchfield knew that the only way they would get this sale is for him to cancel his order with amazon. The only way to do that would be to offer fast delivery, which they did. After he cancelled the order with amazon and bought it through crutchfield, it seems like they just let it go unfulfilled having already stole the sale.

Once again, I'm not implying this happened, but as a customer it sure feels that way.

Personally, If they did that to me, I'd be furious beyond belief and would spread the word to everyone no to buy anything from them again. Just my 2 cents. This is SO wrong and they know it.

I am not happy with them either. I ordered last night paid via Paypal. I want the camera for Thursday. I called them today and asked them what is the status of my order and they tell me that they need a confirm my address again and get a legit phone number. I told them I wasn't happy about this and if I never called I would have not received this order???? I told them you shouldn't need anything from me I paid via Paypal with a confirmed address. It's exactly like paying cash at a register in any store. So I don't know where I stand as of now. I don't think it will go out today. I would never deal with them again. Horrible company.
