.DNG Conversion to .CR2 and/or .RAW

I'm looking for suggestions for free (if available) app software that can convert .DNG to .RAW and/or .CR2 file formats. Appreciate the suggestions and advice.

I don’t believe anything can do that. .CR2 is a proprietary Canon file format.

You can change from a .dng to .tif, which is an effective RAW format.

The only case that I am aware of where a DNG can produce a CR2 file is when the DNG file was created from a Cr2 and the option to embed the original Cr2 file into the DNG was selected. That creates a very large file so few do that.

To check and see if the original CR2 files were embedded, use the Digital Negative Converter program from Adobe and see if the extract button works.

Not all photo editors can handle DNG or even tif files so I could see someone wanting to use the editor they have.
