Firmware: Canon EOS R5 C version 1.0.8.1

Thread has been updated. . As previously noted by @Steve_FR, #9 Is the only change/addition between 1.0.7.1 and 1.0.8.1.

#9 - Fixed an issue in which, when quickly switching from Video mode to Photo mode without stopping at with specific lenses attached, the LCD monitor may go black for approx. 30 seconds, during which the camera becomes unresponsive.

Although I didn't experience this bug, It must have been serious enough for Canon to re-release a new firmware. 1.0.7.1 was stable and has been performing well.

I haven’t tried x.8.1 yet, nor have I experienced the blackout issue in my current x.7.1. I can say that the new features provided in x.7.1 are well worth the update. I’m very happy with the user control changes. If you like to synchronize your dials for ISO/Shutter/Aperture between photo and video, this is now possible. Really nice.

Agree. I've had the R5 C since release and I'm very happy with it. I might as well put the word out now. The new LP-E6P battery has a continuous discharge rate of 6A. This allows you to record 4K 24p for 1:31 on a single battery. This is about a 50% increase over the E6NH. So both old and new batteries share 2130mah, 16w Hr and 7.2v, but the 6P has the higher sustained discharge rate.

Thanks for the battery tip! That's a really significant improvement. I've been happy with the USB-C 30w PD power anker nano powerbank (10,000mah) I get around 4 hours on 4k24p. The downside is a fair amount of rigging bulk, extra weight, and that the powerbank doesn't have enough juice to power the camera and an external monitor like a V-Mount setup. That usb-c port is rather vulnerable, even with the port protector. I do worry about it wearing out. Nice to have some viable downsize options with a single internal batt.
