Is a “crazy” wide angle L prime coming?

Given that Sony/Sigma already have a 14mm (1.4/1.8) then 14mm wouldn't be considered "crazy". The old EF14/2.8 wasn't great but still expensive as far as I know.

A 12mm prime would be unusual but its usefulness is limited especially with the RF10-20/4 already available. f1.4 would be 4 stops more light but vignetting would be fierce I think.

I would prefer to match existing 14mm options available on E mount rather than halo expensive lenses. A 14/1.4 or smaller and cheaper 14/1.8 with nicely controlled coma would be welcome for astro landscapes.... or if Sigma brought out a EF mount version withmanual focus then there would be a lot of happy campers adapting them.

I would buy a 14mm or 16mm f1.4 lens in a heartbeat.
But I don't know if there is a big enough market for such a lens since Canon hasn't released any really fast primes wider than 24mm in the past.

At F4 the 17mm TS already had a massive front element. A 1.4 TS would have to be the size of a dinner plate, and front filter systems would need to be the size of hub caps. I think that 14mm F1.4 IS UWA they had shown patents for previously would be what they are gunning for to set a "crazy" world's first.

Sounds logical, but would it be really crazy?
