I noticed this today in their shop window, it isn't like Jessops to try to get attention by dropping prices. Perhaps they're trying to clear out some old stock; I'm sure that some people will draw the implication that a 5D Mk3 must be close, but that seems to be against the majority opinion.

been this price for a few days now also jacobs calumet and more big retailers have dropped the price maybe they know something we don't ? as for trying to get rid of old stock no way there was a big shortage of these cameras after the japanese earthquake and they haven't had them long back in stock! I'm gonna wait a bit longer to see if the mk 3 comes and then decide what to do

True, but people also have to understand it is "the man upstairs"/executives who would know anything, not the dudes in the stores when it comes to product lines telling the stores about possible secret stuff they dont want the consumers to know.

Sure, if it's a sales clerk behind the counter that tells you something, it's probably not worth the time it took you to listen. But Bob, my local guy at Calumet, is not the one who authorized a price reduction in their online storefront. A whole set of major retailers initiating significant price drops on a specific product or two does send a message.
But interpretation is tricky - what if one retailer just decided to drop the price because they had to meet some arbitrary sales goal set by someone higher up in the organization, and other retailers chose to follow suit? Easy to over-interpret something like that.
