Firmware 1.0.8 for the 60D

A reader reports buying 2 60D’s and each camera had a different firmware version. One camera was 1.0.5, the other was 1.0.8.

I expect any 60D firwmare update will be “phenomenon” fixes.

1D Mark IV Firmware

I’ve been told again that new firmware for the 1D4 is in the pipeline. A feature or 2 may be added which has delayed development.

Don't think it will have AF micro-adjust; considering the criticism that's been levelled at Canon over this, they would probably make a bigger deal over including it in a firmware upgrade -this is all a bit too low key.

Still, if it did contain AF micro-adjust, I wonder:

1) How many 60D owners would actually use it.
2) How many of those that did would make a mess of it! ;)

3) How many people that didn't buy the 60D because of the missing AFMA would get it ? ...
4) How many people will buy 7D instead?

If you are considering a 60D (as I was) and wanted the MA feature, why would you spend hundreds more to get it and get a different camera in the process (no articulating screen)?

If Canon thinks holding back on MA is going to drive people to a 7D for that, they are nuts. (I don't believe they think that, so I am still puzzled why MA was withheld. After all, it seems a natural think to put between a the Rebel and the 7D.)

Anyway, I am over it... and looking instead for a different camera. Something EVIL....
