A few patents showing optical formula for lenses with 1″ sensors have come to light. We expect to see some PowerShot cameras announced ahead of CES 2017 in January.

We haven’t received word on which PowerShot cameras will see a replacement announced, but we think at least one “G” camera will see an update.

The patents are after the break.

For the 10-30, I bet on a G9X MKII (equiv. 28-82mm).
For the other one, equiv. 35-185mm, I don't know...

EDIT : the other one is 1,5" => equiv. 25 124mm powershhot G1X MKIII

GOOD!

G9X II is something I'd buy in a heartbeat if it stays true to form, i.e. thinner, not thicker than the mk i. The G9x is such a great pocketable camera.

The image height 6.42 7.89 7.89
To achieve better paper spec, len wide end will not cover entire sensor, hope this mechanism will come to DSLR L Lens soon ;)

What is happening with SX70 HS? It's been more than 2 years since the previous version was announced, Canon is lagging in the ultra-long zoom segment and we know they can do more than the competition

So does this mean a G7x III is not likely for CES 2017 (if at all)?
Since the G7X series, and G3X/G5X series (for that matter) are based on Sony sensors, and they're using the RX100 II/III series sensor now, which those fabs are fully functional last I read, but the newer fabs, think new 1" sensors are having problems post earthquake, there may be a delay on update for the G7X/G3X/G5X, unless, Canon goes away from Sony 1"'ers, which they could.
That is true I forgot about the sony sensor in this.
No rx100 V yet and constant delaying of the DL cameras might be some indication yes.

The G7X has been updated recently. Before seeing a MKIII you need to wait for a g5X mkII, G3X mkII, G9X mkII and G1X mkIII...
