1080p60? Where is this in the DSLR line? 9.4 FPS for the S120 and 9.3 for the G16? Again, all but the 1D X cannot touch that. Clearly processing power is not the issue at this point, market segmentation is.

I saw that photorumors also said to expect an S200 camera, which appears to be a notch below the S120, but they did not specify how large the 10MP CCD sensor would be (probably 1/2.3", I'm guessing, unless they are recycling the S90/S95 sensor).

With a digic6, it has a lot more computing power than most DSLR's

Start with a Digic4.... Call it speed factor 1.
60D, digic4, speed =1X
7D, dual digic 4, speed =2X
T5i, Digic 5, speed = 6X
5D3, digic 5+, speed =17X
1DX, dual digic5+, speed =34X

I'm not sure how much faster Digic6 is, but a safe bet is twice or more power than a Digic5+, so at least 36 times the power of a 60D.... The p/s cameras didn't get 60fps until digic6, so it stands to reason that it is tipping point for DSLR's too.

I'll keep an eye on s120. Will Canon be able to bring s120 to RX100 II level?

What I like about RX100 II:
1. Size - fits in jean pocket no problem
2. AF is fast - face detection is excellent
3. Flip screen - great to shoot kids at lower angle shots
4. Sharp at wide open
5. 1600ISO in low light looks really good

Both photos below are straight out from camera. only resized to post here

Not quite accurate ratios with the dual DIGICs. In software you don't automatically get 2x scaling (with the vast majority of cases). However, if they did alternate frame kind of processing, for stuff like video or other similar things where you _can_ parallelize it to a degree there's a chance you could see close to 2x scaling. But not in all cases.

Might also be the case that most cards really couldn't handle the write speed necessary, but this year's refresh that's changed sufficiently.

That said, I'd bet that the 1DX needs both DIGIC's for the 2 CF slots among other things. I'd guess that the DIGIC 5+ only has 1 super-high speed DMA I/O port, otherwise I'd like to think that they'd have made the SD slot on the 5d3 UHS-1 compatible.

I'm wondering about this too. I bought my wife an RX 100 (Not II) in March for her birthday, and it is an awesome camera. From what I've heard the I and II are very similar strictly from an image quality standpoint. But yes, I will keep my eye on this S120, but I doubt it will touch the image quality of the RX100. Viewing the RX100 beside photos taken from my old Rebel XSi, I really can't tell the difference. Obviously my 5D3 blows the RX100 out of the water, but I feel like the RX100 is on another level when compared to most compact cameras. If the S120 can compete, I will be extremely impressed, especially at 9FPS.

If they can really do a 24-120mm (FFeq) f/1.8-2.8 lens in an S120, without bulking it up, that would be great. But I suspect the spec is wrong...

The photo of a supposed S120 at http://digicame-info.com/2013/08/g16s120.html has "5.2-26mm 1:1.8 - 5.7" appearing on the lens.
Does that sound more likely?

MUCH more believable. It's a little better than the S100/S110's 5.2-26mm f/2-5.9 lens.
