PR story: Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art is on the way

Non-immediate term statements are not something PR usually posts. They post hearsay until the week prior to a launch, get a leak (often from another site) and share it with a definitive 'here it is'.

But -- if the rumor is true -- Sigma is sticking to its f/1.4 guns with 85mm. We know it will be sharp, but the longer these lenses get, the more demanding the AF will be. Here's hoping they get it right.

Dustin found the AF in the 50-100/1.8 very accurate and consistent, so that's at least encouraging.

If this lens is similar to the previous Art primes, it will be optically excellent and have erratic auto focus. For me the Tamron 85mm f/1.8 VC for $200 less is a much better option. Assuming IQ will be similar, I'd rather have a lens that focuses reliably than f/1.4, VC is an added bonus.
