Price went down for Canon 24-70 f2.8

I see that Canon's site shows $1399 for this Lens. I bought this lens couple weeks ago from B&H for $1600. Any information on this? Where can I buy this lens for $1399?

Its discontinued, and the few remaining in stock have high prices. Used ones are pricey as well.

I think you got about as good of a deal as you can expect for a new one.

a friend of mine bought one a couple of months ago for $1000 brand new, In retro spect he should have bought all the stores remaining stock and sold it on now for a great profit

The retail price has stayed the same on Canon's site, but it's still $1599 at B&H and $1699 at Adorama, which is friggin ridiculous. I don't know if this is some type of ploy to make the new 24-70 seem like a better deal or price gouging on the last 24-70 v1 or what, but I've had several copies of them and I think I paid $950 for one and maybe $1050 for the other. They were used of course, but up until recently the 24-70 was always around $1200-$1300.

Honestly, I'd return it and look for a lightly used one.
