R5 MkII issues - flash and focus bugs

A few times now while shooting macro with flash the camera does some strange things - doesn't see the flash and accommodate on lcd or vf - the screen is dark and grainy and pumps the iso up. then sometimes when i shoot there is a black horizontal section over the top 1/3 of the shot consistently - its not a shutter synch issue, 1/160 1/200 speeds with a godox V860iii flash - and then also i have to fight with it to focus properly. Turning flash and/or camera on and off does not fix it, removing flash and reinstalling doesn't fix it - BUT when i remove the battery (one that came with camera) and put it back in the issue goes away. Also own an R8 and never have this issue.

Hi ... when using the RF 100-500 + 1.4 extender the R5m2 doesn't AF when the shutter is partially depressed
-AND- the lens is at fully extended to 500mm. If I then zoom the lens back to 100 it will focus and then I
can zoom out to 500mm and it will focus (including on a new distance). I have not tested if removing the
extender changes this. Anyone else seen this kind of problem and have any solutions other than always
starting at 100mm. Note - I am still making changes to the AF settings - so if there is some AF setting
that could be causing this please suggest it.

My first weekend with the R5M2 I rented an RF 100-55 + 1.4 extender. Well over 1/2 of the 5360 images were @ 700mm and I had no issues with AF as you described...or any other kind of issues for that matter. Can't wait until the 100-500 is available refurbished again during one of those big sales.

Do you have ‘drive lens when AF is impossible’ on or off? https://cam.start.canon/en/C017/manual/html/UG-04_AF-Drive_0100.html#AF-Drive_0100_1-4
