ePhotozine, a reliable site, has posted a first review of the new lens with measurements of MTF etc. The new EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II gives a its fatter brother a good run for its money by the same tests.

They find it a superb lens, which of course is no surprise. The version 2 is by all accounts flawless and the version 3 is the same lens with new coatings. Hard to believe anyone will find anything bad to say about this lens. I have one on order from Adorama and since I traded in some equipment towards it they supposedly put me on the list to receive first shipment. I had the non-IS version (which was superb also) so I cannot compare this to the version 2 IS, but I look forward to having IS and equally as important to having about a foot closer focus distance (compared to non-IS).
