The forum will be moving to a new domain in the near future (canonrumorsforum.com). I have turned off "read-only", but I will only leave the two forum nodes you see active for the time being.

I don't know at this time how quickly the change will happen, but that will move at a good pace I am sure.

I use this lens all the time on a 5D and it is excellent. It is my general purpose lens. I shot this entire series with this lens:-

The shot of the storm is excellent.

Care to share any details on how that was captured?

Thank you very much. I found a flat surface near the beach and propped the camera up with my wallet. ISO1600 f/6.3 and 1.3 second exposure. Along with some good timing.

An average Sigma lens with huge amount of CA on FF and kind a slow one. Changed to Canon F1.4 and happy with that.

Funny how we all see things differently. Played around with the Canon 1.4 and was unimpressed with both build and quality ... and for a price that's pretty similar over here.

Each to their own hey?

Re: Sigma 50mm f/1.4

Has the auto focus been fixed on this lens?
early reviews I have seen said the auto focus was basically the only really weak point of this lens.
I have heard it said Sigma does "silent upgrades" and was hopeing that maybe there was a chip upgrade or something.

Re: Sigma 50mm f/1.4

Girlfriend... Canon 7D, Siggy 50/1.4 @ 1.4, ISO 100 at about 1/250th. The light through the window acted as a rim light and was pretty bright. I had to put a .9 ND filter to get the light down to the sync speed. The key light (above left) was gelled orange, set to manual at about 1/64th power.

Waiting at the Miami Airport. Shot with a 7D and Sigma 50/1.4 using natural light and a polarizer filter at f1.4, 1/4000, ISO 100, -1.33 exposure.

Thanks! I love this lens. I always get really creative energy from it because it opens up so many artistic possibilities for dreamy/impressionistic photos. It's a great street lens too, just remember your ND filters or you're going to be stopping down a lot and losing the whole point of owning this lens.

Re: Sigma 50mm f/1.4

Got this lens for 6 months or so, and absolutely love it. The fact is, it has some AF errors, but I got used to it and now it produces very nice photos with stunning bokeh. Most of the time my main lens along with C 24-70L.

My copy front focuses quite badly, but it was fixed easily with a tape measure and the micro focus adjustment. Also, it's just plain easy to make errors focusing because the depth of field is so thin. Love love love this lens.
