I actually decided to get a new EF 50mm f/1.8 STM before they discontinue them (I already have the 50mm II). I'm sure the RF version would be restocked soon in those countries, I can't imagine them making a new version so soon.

I think an RF 50mm f/1.4 is a different market from the f/1.8 so I think it would be suitable to have both available. Or maybe Canon will allow a third party to make an RF 50mm f/1.4.

I have one coming today, was going to hold out for the L series variant, but I got a decent discount and also might be better for tourist type carrying on my R5. I just hope it's as good as my 35mm F1.8
