As I have said, the pricing of these longer models is a sign of the true procing structure of all big whites in this inflationary era. A $13k 600mm will seem like "the good old days" in a few years, and I predict major price hikes by the end of next year.

I was going to pick one up but then spent my hard earned cash on an InchMetric tool instead.

Far better use of funds.

Can you double stack a 2x converter on a 600/4 though?
I could get a 1.4x and 2.0x on my 600/4IS MkI, with I believe an extension tube. You may have been able to do two 2x's. I don't recall the actual resulting resolution but it did work and did focus to infinity still. (I think they had a lot of slop built in to handle thermal expansion, production variation and so on, and I think I could get infinity even with a 12mm extension.)

I think I will order one for myself and another to stow away and sell 20 years down the
the road and then buy a new house. Hell, I would be happy simply to be able to purchase something like an R5.

B&H has a 1yr store warranty version of R5 in stock if you want it. Essentially grey market I gander, but available.

I doubt the 1200mm will appreciate in value though as Canon has to only create 10 or less to sell for it to be rare enough to have that extreme collector value. Even the Eye of Sauron 200 1.8 has not kept value.
