Well, the move from Texas to Arkansas is done. The Ozarks are absolutely beautiful. Anyway, I took my Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 28mm f/3.5 and my Takumar 105mm f/2.8 out for a spin on the R. Haven't dragged the flash out yet.

Can't let you have this thread all to yourself Canonfanboy ! I've just seen that you've put it under 'portrait' so here is an environmental portrait of two guys admiring their shots on the back of their cameras.

It was taken with a Takumar 75mm f/4.5 6x7 medium format lens attached to a fotodiox tilt shift adapter, at f/5.6 with about 5 degrees of tilt to give a plane of focus running along the cliffs from the foreground to infinity. Camera was 5DS.

Love the shot of the little girl by the way !

So keeping more in the spirit of the thread here's a shot on one of my favourite lenses, the Takumar 55mm f/1.8, a wonderfully radioactive lens. Produces beautiful separation and beaming reaction from the subjects as can be seen in this snap, although the latter doesn't apply to babies and dogs. Canon 5DII + Takumar 55/1.8 @ f/1.8 ISO 100

Great shots! My Takumars and Mamiya/Sekor lenses are not the sharpest lenses ever made, but they are nice! I love both your shots. Very nice! Hahaha! Those two shots are of the same boy... pre and post haircut (3 days apart)! My daughter finally gave in and cut his hair.

CFB, I also have the Takumar 28/3.5 and have been using it for video over the last couple of weeks. It's easy to handle and has an effective 45mm focal length on the EOS RP in 4K capture. Recommended!

I can barely manual focus for stills. Video would be a disaster for me. ;)

Why 135mm is my favorite focal length:

Canon R with a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f/2.5, natural light.
I went through a phase when I was a big fan of 135mm, but I seem to be in an 85mm + 70-200mm phase at the moment (which obviously covers 135mm, but the point is I seem to be a bigger fan of 85mm than 135mm now). I keep saying I want to downsize my kit (am thinking 135L and 50 f/1.4 Art get sold), but I don't seem to be very good at doing it :) I did manage to put up my 135L for sale but no buyers yet. Maybe I should just keep it. (Yes, first world problems, I know.)

Very nice portrait, CFB.
Thank you, Click!

I must have 5 or 6 135mm primes (all old M42 screw thread except my 135L). I never thought I wanted an 85mm, and the only one I've ever had was the RF 85mm f/1.2L. Fantastic lens! Unfortunately, I don't have a single RF lens now. In another year or two I'll get another RF 85mm f/1.2L. I think I need both. I could live without a 50mm.

Thanks, and oops !
Well he’s certainly going to grow into a handsome young man. Must take after his Dad, or is it Granddad ;)

I sold my 135L once. Once. I ended up buying another. I won't sell it again.

Honestly, I could get by with an RF 28-70 and an RF 70-200. The problem is... those wonderful fast primes. :)

I spent years convincing myself that I didn't need the EF 135L, having the EF 70-200, 100-400, EF 85 1,4, Leica R 90 + 180 Apo, Leica M 90, 135 etc...
One day, I cooked a chili (Texan recipe!), and had a few (???) tequila after-dinner shots. In a tequila induced GAS, I ordered the EF 135, with a huge discount, and, a few days and many pictures later, I knew I'd never part with this fantastic lens.
Thank you, tequila!
