Two Coming? (New Source)
Another source has come forward and said Canon will be bringing two macro lenses to us this fall.

The popular 100mm f/2.8 Macro will receive an IS upgrade. The 180 Macro focal length will be changed to 200mm.

The general consensus among most sources is the 70-200 f/2.8L IS will also receive an upgrade.

The other rumored lenses up for replacement are the 35L and 135L. I haven't received any information about either at this time. I can't see Canon launching 5 lenses at one time. The original rumor about the 35L is that it will appear with a 1Ds update. I still think that's a strong possibility.

The new Canon Hybrid IS system will definitely be on display this month, so the primes may just have to wait.

  1. Yeah….I would like to see it, but it’s not that important. I love my 24-70, and once you get used to it the lack of IS really isn’t an issue. Now the 70-200 2.8L IS could really benefit from a 5 stop IS. The focal length on the 24-70 is short enough that the IS shouldn’t matter as much…..Of course, if they come out with an IS you can buy my current 24-70 and I’ll pretend like I didn’t say this when I’m in line to buy the new one :)

  2. Because there’s better IS in a version of the lens that’s almost $700 less. Because it’s the most used pro zoom lens in Canon’s lineup. Because the 24-70 is actually really good at what it does. And lastly, because I bought the 24-70 in Feb. of this year :)

  3. haha, as a sony user, we can harness carl zeiss 135 1.8 with in body IS.

what does canon have? a cheap f2.0 without IS?
