Canon has released a bug fix firmware update for the Canon Cinema EOS C70, this is not the planned feature update recently announced by Canon.

Firmware Version 1.0.6.1 incorporates the following enhancements:

  1. Fixes a problem that was a rare cause of instability in operation when using the control ring of the lens or adapter.

Man, I hope this actually fixes the problem I've had since the last firmware update: Every time I turn the control ring (whether on an RF lens or on the EF-to-RF adapter with control ring), my C70 enters or exits record. One click = record. next click = stop record. Man, I hope this firmware solves it. It has been super, super annoying.

    Well, I'm going to go ahead and quote myself here. I did the firmware update earlier this afternoon, and it fixed the problem! Thanks, Canon! I have to say I wasn't really expecting this, as it seemed to affect so few of us. Very pleased right now - I can go back to using the control ring again.
