Canon Canada has done what we knew was coming. They have redone the CPS program to come more inline with the USA and European programs.

  1. this does not make any sence they are closing down the office in montreal and calgary, and now the want 250 or 100$ for membership, what an insult to all the professional photographers in montreal and all over canada,we have no service in montreal, thats a problem,i dont want to bring nikon name up,but at least they are loyal to their users,
thats all thats it ,what stupit idea……….thats what you get from the headquarters in toronto ontario, stupit ideas that serve only the managment and their pay check……..

  2. Still waiting here in Australia for CPS to revamp their program. According to the local CPS contacts the program will be limited to owners of 1 and 5 series cameras only. Gold level will require ownership of 1 series bodies etc.

US and Canada programs look a lot better for owners of 7D, 50D and 40D bodies.

Come on canon get it together – surely the offering should be the same wherever we shoot!

  3. Jim Cavercorn on

Canon CPS has been awful for a very long time here in Canada. So bad in fact that I know of many Canon shooters who switched brands or put tape across the name on their bodies when covering news events as a sort of silent protest.

Now they’re charging for a service that until now has been terrible? Seeing that they improve is believing. Until then, no way Canon.

  4. Obviously “Pana Photo” did not read the Canon Canada CPS program details properly. It doesn’t matter where you are in Canada, if you are a Platinum member you get complimentary (=free) overnight incoming and outgoing shipping. If you are a Gold member you receive subsidized incoming overnight shipping for $10.

I think that’s a pretty good deal. & the turn around time is quick or else you get a loaner. So not sure why you are complaining that there is no more offices in Calgary or Montreal.

Also, if you are a professional photographer & you own a real business, then writing off the membership fee is not a problem.
