A new patent for the EF-S 15-85 f/3.5-5.6 optical formula has appeared. Perhaps it may be an update to the current lens to give it a stepping motor (STM).
That said, the current lens is very good for what it is, and probably benefits from USM on a camera such as the EOS 7D Mark II.
