We're happy to announce that we've partnered up with Dustin Abbott for lens reviews here at Canon Rumors. Along with longtime reviewer Justin VanLeeuwen, we should be able to provide very different styles and viewpoints on various lenses for Canon DSLRs.

Over the next few weeks, there will be somewhat of a revamping of the review section here at Canon Rumors, and we expect to add more reviews in the coming months.

First up for Dustin is the brand new Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM, the “nifty fifty” as it's called in some circles. For the $125 USD (MSRP) that the lens costs, it's hard to be too critical of its optical performance, which as it turns out is very good and makes this lens a bargain.

The “nifty fifty” was already one of the best values in photography; the new lens raises the value even higher. It is pretty much better in every area while remaining the exact same price.  Kudos to Canon for giving us so much for so little!
