With no new FF camera from Canon for PMA (we're assuming), there's a few people that are wondering if they'll be announcing anything in the UK next month at Focus. I think it's safe to say they won't be. Canon's history says they announce for PMA or Photokina.

There's going to be tons of rumors about 2 new FF cameras from Canon, I'm one of the people that believe they will do it.

One of the things a lot of people are discussing today is the contrast detection AF in live view mode on the XSi. Most people are assuming it wouldn't take Canon much to update the firmware for the 1d3, 1ds3 and 40D, so they can all have the feature.

I'd usually say Canon would never update functionality in firmware (unmappable print button), but this might be a different situation. The 1ds3 starting shipping basically a month ago and doesn't have the feature. Is Canon saying the XSi actually has better technology in a flagship camera that is a month old? I don't think so.

I will make the prediction we will see a firmware update for the live view cameras before the Rebel XSi ships in April. Here's hoping it actually comes sooner.

If Canon doesn't do this, I think it would be a really annoying PR move on their part. The last year has been a rocky one to say the least for Canon.
