Yes, I'm getting a problem too. I'm using Safari.

It's a fake. Even the reflection is off. The red "L" ring is usually blurred.

Yes, the Speedlite 600EX-RT can sync with any shutter speed (according to the manual).  However, when using high-speed sync, the maximum shutter speed on my Canon 60D is 1/250. You should check the max speed on your camera for high-speed sync.

(I think that 1DX cameras don't have a restriction like this - but I'm not sure.)

The 600EX-RT manual says on p25 - "With high-speed sync, the flash can synchronise with all shutter speeds." Any restriction on this will probably lie with your camera.

Your 60D flash sync of 1/250 is the maximum for non-HSS flashguns. When you select HSS in flash menu you can sync up to your maximum shutter speed of 1/8000th

I have not been able to get my 60D to increase its shutter-speed faster than 1/250 sec when it's linked with my 600EX-RT. When connected (even when selecting the HHS option), it stops at 1/250. Not sure how to do this. :-/

Thanks. I saw one in a camera store today. They look like they would shoot out light in every direction - a good idea for diffuse lighting.

I like the EF-S 18-200mm IS lens. Pity I don't think they make a USM equivalent. It's a bit slow focussing. Great general purpose lens though.

Depends on what quality photos you want. I can recommend the EF-S 18-200mm IS lens as a great single travel lens, because of its ability to do wide angle and some zoom - but it's no L-series lens. Suits my purposes fine though. I'm very happy with it.

How much light power do you lose when you use it?

I'd have to recommend the Canon 600EX-RT, as Radio Triggering will allow you to be compatible via RT with Canon future flash releases (I'm sure it will be the way of the future for strobists). It will allow you to maximise your flash photography, and give you more options in low light conditions. Good luck!

Wow - I'm very interested in the mirror-less entry. I wonder what it's video capability will be like.

Yes, I am sure that it is booting up the cost (probably very significantly) ... but in my opinion it's worth it. I like the flexibility of having one piece of hardware which I can use for two very different forms of visual creativity.

I would sell them both and buy a 60D. :-)

My Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT arrived a few weeks ago. I'm very pleased with the purchase, despite it's price. It has opened up new functionality for my existing lenses.

I have filmed a short 'hands on' first look video if you're interested.
