I've been working in Miami Beach and there is a camera store at 1671 Collins Avenue.

I recently sold off my 85 1.8 and 50 1.8 II so have about $400 or so extra. Was going to buy a Sigma 35 but might do this upgrade first. Decisions decisions.

 ???

Are you really missing the gap between 40-70mm?

Is it too soon to speculate on a 200-400 f/2.8 with 1.4x?  How expensive and how heavy would that lens be?

 :o  :o  :o

Hmmm... maybe not as heavy as the Sigma 200-500mm 2.8 - but way more expensive  ;D

Thanks for your opinions.
If i would have the money: 70-200mm II, but this is simply dreaming.
I don't need the lens today... but it would be nice  ;D. Can't wait to do some tele-shootings.

Well, i think, i'll save some money and wait until one of the 70-200mm is in reach.

Thanks for the answers.
Yes, field photography is the case: mainly soccer and horse riding.
And yes, at the moment, i want to be flexible, so the 200mm 2.8 is no option, i think.

So, it boils down to a 70-300mm or the 70-200mm f4 i guess.

Lenses / Sport lens - low budget
« on: May 10, 2013, 05:39:09 AM »
Greetings,

i need an advice concerning low-budget-sportphotography.
I'm looking for an EF-tele-lens for my 1Ds2 - and i have no money.
My first thought was the 70-300mm-class.
Here my thoughts thereafter:
1.) the L-lens is out of my budget
2.) considering the 70-300mm for 300€/400$

3.+4.) Canon 70-300mm IS and Tamron 70-300mm VC
well, these lenses are definitely in the budget. But considering the imagequality HERE, well, i don't like it each at 300mm.

So, is there any other alternative? 300mm would be nice, and the 70-300mm is attractive. But the imagequality gives me a headscratch.

Thanks for your help.

Software & Accessories / [editing pictures] I can't live without...

... Clarity.
If i make modifications in Lightroom, THIS is my favourite tool. Especially black&white pictures and landscapes become way more depth thanks to this modification. I love it.

Which one is your all-time-favourite modification?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Why do we buy Canon? What idiots are we?

You got, what you pay. I thing, that's a precise description of Canon's philosophy. And Nikon doesn't share this ohne - why should they? They are only No.2 on the camera market, so they've got to find a way to bring their cameras to the people.

I ask myself:
had you every a job to be done, where the customer was unsatisfied with the dynamic range in a picture
or
where you had the same picture twice (1x "high" DR and 1x "low" DR) and the customer was eager to get the highDR-picture?

12
A little bit offtopic, yes, but a test concerning noise. And, as far as i can see, there a lot of lousy pictures, so: here is my contribution  ;D

Take a look at the pictures, before an after.
Left one is the original.
It is a portrait, so you look a the shoulder (red area), and the hair, that appears from the darkness in the right one.
Adjustments made in Lightroom: shadows +100 (alternative: exposure +3,00)

Questions:
- Which further adjustments were made in Lightroom?
- Which camera?

...

You are the guy, that has never shown one of his own pictures in the recent Nikon-vs-Canon-debates, aren't you?

my 6D + 50 1.8 can do great street photography at night too and many folds cheaper than your 1dx + 85 1.2.

talking about IQ/price ratio, my combo is greater than yours. ;)

Well, show us some pictures. Everyone is eager to see your work.

More marketing-victims  :D

@ topic:
typical behaviour: critizising canon, but not able to articulate, what is the real problem with their cameras.
