5D MK III Sample Images / Hi ISO Critique
« on: April 07, 2013, 01:14:32 PM »
Hello Everyone,
Need critique on this image I took at home with ISO 12800.  I just took a screen shot from my PC in lightroom to show everything.  Sharpened to 40 and I reduced noise level luminance to 50 and the image zoomed in does not look so good, however, at normal size on the left looks decent.  What do you guys think?

Hey guys, I'm looking for some advise and assistance...

I have a 5D2 & 5D3 with 1 580EX2 Flash.  I'm using the flash with a set of 1 Mini TT1 & Flex TT5 on either body.  I'm looking to purchase a new 600EX-RT however, I'm not sure if I just need to buy 1 Mini TT1 or both the Mini TT1 and Flex TT5 PW?

I know the 600EX is wireless, so, can I get away with having a PW Mini TT1 on my 5D3 to trigger the flash?

What in your opinion is the best way to do this set-up so I can trigger the flash off camera?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 5D2 & Strobe Light Question
« on: July 13, 2012, 12:17:39 PM »
Hey guys,
I'm hoping someone can give me some direction on what mode to set the white balance to when shooting with a 3 light strobe set-up?  I typically leave it on auto WB and tweak it in post production; however, this time I'll have the editor, stylist, and publisher of the magazine at the shoot wanting to see every image sent to my iPad for review.  I would like to hit the WB on the spot and not have to explain that we can fix in post..

I’m using a 5D MK2, 90mm TS lens, 50mm f1.4, and 24-70 f2.8.  Firing with PW to a 3 light strobe set-up by Novatron with 1 large softbox and 2 umbrellas.

Thanks

Lenses / Best Lens for Tabletop Dinnerware Shoot
« on: June 29, 2012, 02:18:14 PM »
Hi everyone,
I'm wondering what other photographers are using when shooting products?  I've been hired by a magazine to shoot high end dinnerware, silverware products and I'm not sure is using a TS-E 90mm 2.8 or 100mm 2.8 macro would be best?
This will be shot indoors on a large table; the editor and stylist want the focus to be both single items and overall look and feel...... with some DOF.  I'm using a Canon 5D MK2 for this shoot.

Also, what do you guys think about using a 50mm 1.4 prime?

Any input would greatly be helpful  :)

Lenses / Best Product Lens
« on: May 31, 2012, 11:55:49 PM »
Hey Guys,
I normally shoot events for a magazine I've been with for a couple of years; however, I was just asked to shoot 2 different products.  One shoot is for high end Tea and the other is for high end dinner ware all indoors.  The focus will be on each of the product and this editor is a stickler about the shallow DOF using my 5D2.  I'm mainly looking for suggestions on a couple of lenses for this type of shoot?  I will have lighting set-up triggered thru a pocket wizard for fill light too, shooting manual at probably f8 - f11.

Thanks

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 5D MK2 - Price
« on: January 05, 2012, 10:33:22 AM »
Hey everyone,
So I missed out on the B&H & Adorama deal with the 5D II.  I know sometimes when reading thru this site that someone has a special offer code they throw out when purchasing a new body.  I'm only looking for a new body, no lens.
If anyone out there would be so kind as to throw one out, I would really appreciate it  :)  I would like to purchase thru B&H if possible and keep the price around $2000 or below.

Regards
Ron

EOS Bodies / 5D mkII - 7D
« on: December 05, 2011, 02:25:29 PM »
Hey guys,
I know this question might have been asked before and while trying to search, I get hundred's of posts with anything and everything related to these two bodies.

I currently shoot with a 30d as my main camera and in January 2011 purchased a T2i as my back-up.  I have realized that an upgrade is needed given that I've been hired to shoot a lot more than expected.  Also, I've found myself using the T2i as my main a lot more than my 30d for the Weddings & Portraits I shoot.

My question is, I'm looking at the 7D (mainly price point) than the 5D mkII.  While I understand the 5D is a full frame camera and primarily used by portrait and wedding photographers, will the 7D do the job for now? Especially in low light situation?  Keep in mind that I currently use 2 APS-C sensor cameras and they've done OK for me.

Ultimately, when I book more and more shoots, I'll end up purchasing a 5D mkII I just can afford the $2500 price tag for now.

Thanks for any input guys!
