Firewire CF card reader has been a dying breed, so it was a bit of a surprise when I came across the above.

This being an eBay dealer has my Spidey senses on guard, but still optimistic. The little LEGO dude and the beat-up Hot Wheels pickup truck, though admittedly cute, wasn't exactly calming. 

I'm unaware of the brand, Gold Flash, who appears to be Japanese or intended for the Japanese market. It doesn't appear to be a one-off, as the dealer indicated there are many still avail for sale and are "new in box". Also claimed to have tested okay on OS X Lion (Mountain Lion compatibility unknown).

Has anyone had any experience with this reader and the dealer?

This thing is incredibly hard to come by, as they are in very limited production. No words on when Hoya will start to mass produce them. Seems a couple Australian retailers are the only reputable sources I can find today and they made sure you get milked for double the price.

Has anyone had any luck sourcing these with a reputable retailer in the US? 

No eBay or auction houses please. The risk of counterfeits is far too likely.

Canon General / Q: Free extended warranty coverage via Credit Card purchase

I love using my Discover card for anything and everything. Until now, it hadn't actually occur to me that I have been missing out on my Master Card's perk of providing free extended warranty (doubles the manufacture's) on many purchases. American Express is probably the best known for providing this complimentary service.

Has anyone had any experience with this service in purchasing a dSLR & lenses?
Is it worth the trouble for me to stop using my beloved Discover card?
If you actually made claims, what was your experience?
