Software & Accessories / Must have Android apps?
« on: November 15, 2014, 10:34:42 PM »
So I finally bought my first smartphone, yeah I know I am a bit late there. Wondering what the must have applications are, or if there are any? 5d3 user. I made the mistake of trying to search through the marketplace. Did scan forums here, but couldn't find much recent.

Thanks,
Jeff

Lenses / Night Sky
« on: October 22, 2014, 07:27:06 PM »
Hi, I have done a bit of research on taking night sky pictures. I want to take some shots of the Milky Way near a couple of landmarks in New Hampshire. Being a bit of a novice here, I have read a few blogs where people are saying Canon lenses don't cut it because of bad coma. Is that accurate? and recommendations as an example for a Rokinon 24 over the 24L that canon makes.

I only have 3 lenses at the moment with my 5d3. I've got a 24-105L, 100macroL and the 70-300L.

My results with the 24-105L weren't impressive. I'm going to try the macro lens this weekend if I get a clear night, with the assumption that being a prime its light gathering will be significantly better? but I'm not adverse to picking up the Rokinon 24 if it is actually good for this type of shot. The problem is I understand it can be soft, and I'm not sure what use I would have for it besides night shots, where the 24L I could see myself using more.

Thanks,
Jeff

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 5D3 macro question (Possible Noobish)
« on: July 14, 2012, 12:20:40 AM »
Wondering if someone can help me here, I have only had my 5d3 for about three weeks. I tried to do a few macro shots today, (Close ups of flowers) using the kit lens.

Autofocus was spot on looking through the view finder but I could not get the camera to take the picture, nothing happened when pushing shutter. If I dropped to manual focus on lens or zoomed further out it worked fine. I haven't done much Macro before, is there something I am missing?

Or was the camera telling me I was too close even though it looked ok?

Canon General / Cleaning LCD on Camera
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:51:17 PM »
I can't find this in the manual and not much luck with google, what is ok to clean smudges and fingerprints off the screen on a Canon DSLR (5d mark 3)?

Is something like eyeglass wipes or monitor cleaner too harsh?

EOS Bodies - For Video / 5DMK3 Video Zoom
« on: April 03, 2012, 10:53:47 AM »
Is the video digital zoom of the T3I possible on the 5DMK3? I know it's mostly a gimmick feature and probably not right for the audience of this camera but curious.
